Maltese
dogs make wonderful pets for city living
Maltese dogs really are the perfect lap dog. In Paris
you will definitely encounter a French woman dining
at a restaurant with her sweet Maltese companion on
lap. The lovely companion will probably be pampered
with a sugary bow clip or something while they dine
together.
Really,
Maltese
dogs make wonderful companions with the exception
being that they are not recommended for small children
as they are quite fragile. But other than that these
dogs make wonderful pets. They are agile, intelligent
and can easily be taught dog tricks.
Weighing
anywhere from 3 to 10 pounds, these toy dogs are covered
in a long silky, white fur that does not shed, meaning
they are considered hypoallergenic. As far as their
coats go, they do require regular brushing to keep them
mat free. Some owners keep their dog's fur cut short
- only and inch or two long.
As
far as temperament goes, Maltese dogs can be quite feisty
like their ancestors the Terriers. They are mostly fearless
for their small size. What calms them down is to be
petted and preened. And since these dogs were bred for
companionship they do not like to be left alone for
hours at a time so if no one home all day this breed
isn't your best choice. But if you're looking for an
even tempered dog that loves company, then this breed
is for you.
